Understand that the Panasonic LUMIX G7 features a 16-megapixel micro four thirds sensor without a low pass filter. This setup ensures sharp images with high dynamic range and minimal artifacts.

3. Video Capabilities

Take advantage of the 4K video capture feature, allowing you to record 4K QFHD videos at 3840 x 2160 resolution. The camera offers various 4K photo modes for extracting high-resolution photos from videos.

4. Controls and Customization

Explore the intuitive controls of the Panasonic LUMIX G7, including front and rear dials for aperture and shutter settings, White balance adjustments, and ISO settings. You can assign favorite settings to function buttons for quick access.

Camera equipment can be quite pricey! I was in search of a compact and lightweight beginner camera with a DSLR-like appearance that wouldn’t cost a fortune. This camera fits the bill perfectly! It boasts an attractive design and delivers pretty good picture quality. While I have many positive things to say about it, what impressed me the most was the ability to capture excellent photos even without a stabilized lens. Despite lacking in-body stabilization, this camera’s kit lens performs admirably. The controls are user-friendly and conveniently located. I highly recommend this camera for capturing casual photos.

The Panasonic G7KS is a standout addition to the G series lineup, showcasing a perfect balance of power, compactness, and affordability. Although classified as a mid-level camera, it competes admirably with higher-end models in terms of capabilities. Here are the highlights that impressed me the most:
    – Image Quality: The 16MP sensor offers exceptional high ISO performance, and editing RAW files provides ample creative control.
    – Stellar Video: The standout feature of 4K video is truly impressive, though manual controls for videography are somewhat limited.
    – Superb Handling: The camera’s user-friendly design with intuitive dials and buttons, reminiscent of earlier G1 and G2 models, make it a joy to use. The grip stands out as exceptional.
    – Fast and Accurate Focus: The autofocus is reliable and responsive, with lens selection also playing a role.
Now, let’s consider some potential drawbacks:
    – Mostly Plastic Build: Despite feeling sturdy overall, the camera’s construction primarily utilizes plastic materials.
    – No In-Body Stabilization (IBIS): While this absence may be a dealbreaker for some users, it wasn’t a major concern for me personally.
    – No Weather Sealing: As a mid-range camera, the G7KS lacks weather sealing, which may necessitate a higher-priced alternative for those seeking this feature.
In conclusion, given its price point, the Panasonic G7KS offers exceptional value and comes highly recommended. Consider investing in quality lenses with the money saved, as superior glass significantly enhances image quality. It’s important to manage expectations when upgrading to a new camera, as the choice of lenses can have a substantial impact on the overall outcome.

We all know that quality cameras, whether Reflex or Mirrorless, can be expensive. I use the camera for work as we have a digital marketing agency. Previously, I used the Canon Rebel T5i, but now we are using the Panasonic Lumix G7.
Key differences between the G7 and the Rebel T5i:
SIZE Winner: Lumix G7 – The G7 is mirrorless, making it smaller and lighter. It also uses a micro four-thirds sensor, resulting in more compact lenses compared to Canon.
PHOTOGRAPHY QUALITY Winner: Lumix G7 – We use both the Canon T5i and the Lumix G7 for food photography, and we believe the G7 is superior to the T5i in terms of color vividness. The only downside of the G7 is that photos are in 16MB size compared to the T5i’s 18MB.
VIDEO QUALITY Winner: Lumix G7 – The G7 records in 4K, making it incomparable to the T5i in video quality.
EXTRA FEATURES Winner: Lumix G7 – I am still exploring the camera, but I have already discovered two very practical functions that the T5i lacks. The first is 4K photo, which allows you to record small video clips and extract high-quality 8MB 4K photos. The other function is time-lapse, making it easy to create time-lapse effects.
SOFTWARE EASE Winner: Canon T5i – Maybe because I am not yet used to the Panasonic system, but I found the Canon system easier to use. However, it’s just a matter of getting used to it.
I believe that Reflex cameras are becoming outdated. If you are considering buying a camera, I recommend a mirrorless one. And if you are deciding between the Canon T5i and the Lumix G7, I can confidently say that the Lumix G7 is much better. It offers more features, and you can record video in 4K.

    Revised on 8/17/2015:
I recently acquired a Panasonic G7 from Amazon and have already captured over 20,000 shots in the seven weeks I’ve had it. I used various lenses and primarily utilized the electronic shutter, also conducting some video tests. Being familiar with Panasonic cameras from owning the G5, GH4, and previously the G6, and having taken over 125,000 photos with these Micro Four Thirds cameras, I was well-versed in the Panasonic camera system and the menu settings adjustments needed for my desired image outcomes.
The G7 fits in between the compact G5/6 bodies and the larger GH4 in terms of size and weight, offering a balance that makes it convenient to carry and use. I particularly appreciate the GH4 for its outstanding electronic viewfinder (EVF), ergonomic grip, extensive external controls, user-friendly menus, exceptional image quality with the right lenses and settings, and impressive video capabilities. On the other hand, the G5 stands out for its sharp EVF, compact size and weight, good controls, and solid photo and video performance, although lacking an external mic input and focus peaking like the G6.
The G7 combines the positive aspects of both the G5/6 and the GH4 at a more affordable price point, albeit without weather sealing and certain advanced video features. It offers a high-quality EVF similar to the GH4, a comfortable grip, numerous and functional external controls, and consistent menus across the Panasonic line. New features like 4K-Photo/Video, tone-curve adjustment, Diffraction Compensation, and an external mic input enhance the overall shooting experience.
I find the ability to fine-tune various settings on Panasonic MFT cameras, such as color balance, saturation, contrast, and noise reduction levels, very useful. The accurate previewing on the EVF, aligned with my computer monitor, is a big plus for me. While I have minor initial gripes, like the positioning of the rear dial and the slightly lower image resolution compared to other Panasonic models, they do not significantly impact my overall satisfaction with the G7.
In conclusion, the Panasonic G7 is an excellent camera offering great value for its price. I highly recommend it for its features and performance.

An excellent purchase without a doubt. The G7 is an impressive all-around camera that combines solid image quality, impressive autofocus performance, and 4K (UHD) capability in a compact body with easily accessible external controls. The user interface may be a bit challenging to navigate, but unlike a Sony camera, it has the ability to use the rear screen as a touch panel to set the AF point.
Ideal for: Beginners looking for a camera to grow with or DSLR owners seeking a smaller, lighter second camera, particularly those interested in video recording.
Not ideal for: Users seeking simplicity and photographers fixated on absolute image quality.
Truth be told, it is the best mirrorless camera for the price, one of the most compelling purchases I made for a podcast project with live video. I paired it with an external battery pack that can be connected directly to a power source, eliminating the need to change batteries mid-program. Additionally, you can easily find a hack online to remove the 30-minute recording limit for 4K videos.

I recently tried out a micro 3/4 camera for the first time. I purchased it primarily for personal use and got a great deal on Black Friday. The camera came with two lenses and has the capability to shoot 4K video. I am pleased with its lightweight design and user-friendly features. I would definitely recommend this camera!

This camera is perfect for both beginners and professionals due to its wide range of features. It may take a bit of time to fully master all its functions, but it is well-suited for YouTubers and vloggers. I am pleased with my purchase and am currently in the process of testing it out. Once I have fully evaluated its performance, I will share my detailed opinion.

This camera offers excellent value for the price! It provides fantastic 4K video quality, numerous programmable buttons, an articulating screen, and even includes a lens. The only drawback is the absence of a headphone jack, but it doesn’t bother me as I usually record audio externally. Remember to invest in a fast SD card for optimal performance, as slower ones may not support 4K recording. In conclusion, this compact camera delivers nearly all the features of the GH4 at a much lower cost!

After years of not purchasing a camera with interchangeable lenses due to price, weight, and size concerns, I came across the Panasonic Lumix G7 and was impressed by its capabilities. The Micro 4/3 format makes this camera more compact and portable compared to full-frame cameras. With a 2x crop factor, a 25mm lens is equivalent to a 50mm one, and the included 14-42mm lens covers a versatile range. The affordability and portability of the lenses make it easy to expand your collection. I have bought two additional lenses and am considering more to explore different formats and features. The camera offers functions comparable to higher-priced models and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. I would definitely buy it again and highly recommend it.
